Solidarity and supper!
So often prisoners are overlooked. Serving long sentences in the shadows of the state; out of sight and out of mind to most of us.
Despite the government’s attempt to silence them, removing them from families, friends and the communities they fought for; we have the power to send a glimmer of humanity back into their lives by jotting a short letter to let them know;
You are not alone!
You are not forgotten!
Drawings are nice too.
Join us as we gather monthly to learn about the case of a specific freedom fighter and attempt to reach through the bars & barbed wire-lined walls that separate us.
Guests are *encouraged* to bring a dish to share:)
Writing is not *mandatory*
In the past we have written to former members of the Black Panther Party, MOVE, American Indian Movement, as well as indigenous prisoners, Chicano-American community organizer and animal & environmental activists. Many whom we keep in regular contact with.
We will have art displayed by indigenous prisoners that we’ve been corresponding with. Letters from prisoners will be available and prints of their artwork will be available to purchase for a small donation.
